Bossa Nova Special
Galliano Autentico, Light Rum, Bols Apricot Brandy, Pineapple Juice, Lemon Juice

The Bossa Nova Special is a tiki style cocktail from the dark ages of mixology. The drink originates from a cocktail competition held at the Nassau Beach Hotel in 1969. Interestingly, The Beatles stayed at this hotel in 1965 while they were filming their second movie, “Help!”.

Pain Killer
Dark Rum, Cream of Coconut, Orange Juice, Pineapple Juice

The Painkiller is one of the popular tiki cocktails Like the Corpse Reviver, one could interpret this drink's name as an allusion to its restorative properties on those days when you are plagued with a hangover. While the Painkiller does a fine job as a 'hair of the dog' cocktail, it is also a very tasty drink that is even better when your faculties are clear and you can fully enjoy Reputation has it [per Edward Hamilton's 1997 book The Complete Guide to Rum p. 47] that the original Painkiller® was created in the 1970s at the Soggy Dollar Bar at White Bay on the island of Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands.

Blue Hawaiian
Bols Genever, Light Rum, Bols Blue Curacao, Pineapple Juice, Sweet & Sour Mix.

The Blue Hawaii was invented in 1957 by Harry Yee, legendary head bartender of the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, Hawaii. A sales representative of the Dutch Distiller, Lucas Bols, asked him to design a drink that featured their blue color of Curacao. After experimenting with several variations he settled on a version somewhat different from the most popular version today, but with the signature blue color, pineapple wedge, and cocktail umbrellas.

Rum Runner

As the story goes, Rum Runners were invented at the Holiday Isle Tiki Bar on Islamorada, Florida. The bar had excess inventory of certain rums and liqueurs they needed to move out, so they created this tasty drink and called it the Rum Runner, after the real Rum Runners that inhabited the Florida Keys during prohibition. Rum-running, or bootlegging, is the illegal business of transporting (smuggling) alcoholic beverages where such transportation is forbidden by law. Smuggling is usually done to circumvent taxation or prohibition laws within a particular jurisdiction. The term rum-running is more commonly applied to smuggling over water; bootlegging is applied to smuggling over land.

Mai Tai
Bols Genever, Jamaican rum, Bols Orange curacao, lime, orgeat

Trader vic invented this drink back in 1944 at the height of the tiki movement. Some say Don the beachcomber was the first to make the Mai Tai, however, Don’s version, the Mai Tai swizzle, had more ingredients then this streamlined cocktail. It also had a completely different method of preparation. Another Mai Tai misconception is that it contains pineapple juice, which is actually a variation on the drink called a Hawaiian Mai Tai. The Hawaiian Mai Tai contains amaretto instead of the delicious almond syrup known as orgeat.

Skinny Piña Colada
Bols Yogurt Liqueur, Coconut Rum, Pineapple Juice

The name piña colada literally means "strained pineapple", a reference to the freshly pressed and strained pineapple juice used in the drink's preparation. Two Puerto Rican bartenders contest the ownership of their national drink. Ramón 'Monchito' Marrero Pérez claims to have first made it at the Caribe Hilton Hotel's Beachcomber Bar in San Juan in 1954, using the then newly-available coco lópez creme of coconut.

Coco lópez was developed in Puerto Rico in 1948 by Don Ramón López-Irizarry, hence the Puerto Rican connection and the 1952 account of the drink's creation. Some say the drink did not acquire its name until the 1960s. Our version is made with Bols Yogurt Liqueur instead of Coco Lopez, which makes the drink 1/2 the calories and 1/3 of the fat of a traditional Pina Colada. Although this isn’t a classic Tiki Cocktail, it’s light, frothy and delicious to sip poolside!
